Trillium Flower

A month ago, I was walking in the woods and I noticed my first trillium of the season with its white petals swaying in the breeze. To me, the trillium represents the transition from cold, darkness, and an inward focus to longer and warmer days. Spring! In lieu of the challenging and devastating events of the last year, this spring feels especially welcome. I was thinking about bears coming out of hibernation the other day and what a drastic experience it is to hunker down in a dark den for 2 to 7 months with no food or water during the cold, winter months and then emerge in spring to warmer weather, light, and an abundance of food. As we all know, bears hibernate as a means for survival. I have often thought about winter as being a time for humans to engage in our own form of hibernation due to shorter days, and for many, dropping temperatures. We spend more time inside and perhaps enjoy a sense of going inward and self-reflection. But this year, our hibernation took on a whole new meaning. It wasn’t just about matching our rhythm with the season, but like the bears, we were in survival mode. We were quarantined to our homes, and many of the places we like to go have been off-limits. I don’t know about you, but I’ve had enough self-reflection and time in my home to last me a very long time!  With the influx of vaccinations, it is becoming safer for us to emerge from our “dens” and safely enjoy this spectacular time of year. This is the perfect time for new beginnings.

Transform your COVID takeaways into reality
With so much time by ourselves, it became hard to ignore what’s going on in our brains, which was oftentimes eclipsed by the distractions of our fast-paced lives. Virtually everyone found themselves musing in self-reflection and taking stock of their lives. Some of the realizations were inspirational and some were hard to face.

As life slowly starts to feel more like it did pre-pandemic, let’s not lose the momentum of these important takeaways and make sure they become integrated into our lives. Perhaps you’ll resonate with the following realizations that many people experienced, and if not, what were your big takeaways and how can you make/keep them a part of your life?

“I like a slower paced life.”
Being quarantined to our homes forced almost everyone to slow down. The rush, rush, rush approach to life was transformed into a much slower pace of life, and many of us realized that we were cramming too many things into our daily lives. Perhaps the pace was a little too slow for many, but as more elements of society are opening up, don’t forget that feeling and do what’s within your power to achieve a pace of living that truly makes you content. You might find that one of our Sweet Jane tinctures microdosed throughout the day is a great way to help you unwind and move through your life a little more unrushed. We have a ratio to fit everyone’s needs.

“There are elements of my life that make me stressed and unhappy.”
One of the seemingly nice things about a fast-paced life is that we don’t have as much time to think about the elements of our lives that we don’t like. However, if we ignore those aspects of our lives for too long, they can have detrimental effects on our physical and mental well-being. If you came to a discovery of a part of your life that makes you unhappy, and you can change it, do it while the momentum is still strong! If you can’t change the circumstances of your life, then try altering how you perceive them. Humboldt Apothecary’s Calm and Blues Away tinctures are a great way to ease your stress and improve your outlook.

I discovered/rediscovered hobbies that I love.
For those who had extra time on their hands, many people picked up a hobby they haven’t had time for in years or discovered they have a love of a new activity they’ve never engaged in. Whether it’s making sourdough bread or painting or whatever your jam happens to be, try not to let it slip through the cracks as your life begins to get busier. Try scheduling time in whatever form of a planner you use to make sure you prioritize your creative outlet. You might enjoy combining your hobby with a Humboldt Apothecary Sativa Tablet. It’s perfect for daytime use with its mild sense of euphoria and uplifting qualities.

Happy Spring!
At Humboldt Apothecary, we’re all about healthy living. We hope everyone is able to fully immerse themselves in this extra special spring and finds their particular path to vibrant health. With a comprehensive line of tinctures, amazing topicals, and fun unique tablets, Humboldt Apothecary’s got you covered as you emerge from your den and make this the best spring ever!
